Chartered Engineer

Chartered Engineers (CEng) are concerned with the progress of technology through innovation, creativity and change. They develop and apply new technologies, promote advanced design concepts and design methods. Introduce new and more efficient production techniques, marketing and construction concepts and pioneer new engineering services and management methods.

Chartered Members are entitled to use the letters CEng MIGEM after their name.

INITIAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

IPD may be expected to take at least 4 years and it is a requirement to demonstrate competence and commitment applied in the gas industry by means of a Professional Review.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The process will be more straightforward if you hold particular academic qualifications, these are:

  • An accredited MEng degree or equivalent; or
  • An accredited BEng/BSc honours degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent, plus appropriate further learning to Masters level; or
  • The Engineering Council Diploma; or
  • Successfully completed the Technical Report Option; or
  • Be registered as a Chartered Engineer with a UK Engineering Institution. (See Dual Registration)
